Acupuncture

What is acupuncture
and how can we help?

Acupuncture uses very small needles to stimulate different points in the body. It is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which has roots that date back 5000 years. We still use it today to address a variety of health concerns and it has gained accolades the world over for its many therapeutic benefits. TCM theorizes disease to be caused by disruptions in the natural flow of energy, or qi, in the body. The needles stimulate movement of this qi along channels, called meridians.

There are hundreds of acupuncture points throughout the body, however during a treatment the practitioner inserts only a few needles into specific points to help to facilitate a positive outcome. The needles remain inserted for 25 to 35 minutes depending on the condition and the presenting symptoms. The frequency of treatments is also dependent upon the severity of the condition.

Acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of conditions including chronic pain, addictions, digestive symptoms, hormonal imbalances and mental health concerns. A consultation is recommended to discuss the concerns of the patient and to use diagnostic methods to further clarify what might be taking place within the body and the emotional components attached. This allows us to create an individualized protocol to address the underlying causes and restore health in your body.
